December 29, 2001: Zee Telefilms today announced the appointment of Ms. Vinta Nanda as Director – Ideation of the Zee Network. Vinta will join her new assignment from January 01, 2002.
The writer – director of ‘Tara’, the watershed tele-serial of the early 90’s, Ms. Nanda has over two dozen tele-serials, tens of documentaries and six telefilms to her credit over the last 15 years. Ms. Nanda has been associated with various channels including Zee TV and Star TV and written and produced serials like Sansaar, Rishtey, Star Bestseller, X-Zone, besides others. Ms. Nanda has also written, produced and directed documentaries and short films on social issues like maternal and child health, drinking water, environmental and gender bias for UNICEF, UNFPA, VHAI, John Hopkins University, UNESCO, TVE and BBC amongst others. She is also the President of Project Smita Society, an NGO started by her to utilize the power of television and films in India to bring about social change in areas like maternal and child healthcare. Ms. Nanda is currently a Director of Tracinema, a leading software producer for television. She has two movies, Sazaa and Aur Phir currently on the floors, slated for release in 2002.
Vinta will soon be joined by her team of 5-6 ‘ideators’ who will work with her on development of new concepts, formats and on experimentation with new thought processes on Zee’s channels. The first of these new appointees is Mr. Amrish Sethi, ex-creative Director of MTV will join Vinta’s team from mid-January
On her appointment, Vinta Nanda says, ” This is a great opportunity for me. Also a very wide canvas.
