Zee Network, the largest Indian entertainment network in the world has taken its positioning a step further. Zee TV has launched 4 channels viz. Zee TV APAC, Zee Cinema, Zing and Zee Salaam on Fetch TV in Australia, thus making Zee the network with the maximum number of channels on their platform. They have been launched on World TV, which is a package on Fetch TV, which has 2 sub packages in it, South Asian and Mandarin. Fetch TV is an Australian founded and owned business, with backing from the Malaysian based ASTRO ALL ASIA NETWORKS subscription TV group. It is a wholesale subscription TV provider to leading Australian ISPs. The Fetch TV service is unique in that it provides access to digital free-to-air channels, subscription channels, video on demand and interactive content via an unmetered broadband connection.

Zee has had its presence in Australia since 2004 and has been catering to the Indian audience providing them with a slice of their very own Indian culture and tradition. Here, it is already present on other mainstream DTH platforms namely Vision Asia and Konnec TV. Fetch TV has helped Zee increase its penetration in the market.

As per the market understanding, there is high broadband penetration (82%) of 6.6 million households in Australia and the media consumption on digital platforms i.e. internet based, has been rapidly growing. Thus Zee’s positioning puts them in a favorable situation to take advantage of the current dynamics in the market.

Saba Zaidi Abdi, South Asian Media Expert who worked with FetchTV on the creation of these packages, said: “While packaging the two bouquets, we have selected only the premium channels and best quality content available from South Asia. Acknowledging the diverse cultural, linguistic, religious and entertainment needs within the South Asian community we have created compelling and comprehensive bouquets which offer a rich variety of channel s for all generations.

Because Fetch TV is delivered over broadband, a satellite dish is not required to receive the packages. This means that the new service can be accessed by a larger proportion of the South Asian community than can receive existing subscription TV options.”
Greg Bader, iiNet’s Chief Technology Officer said “We’re proud to be the first internet provider in Australia to offer this revolutionary service in lieu with Fetch TV”
